For the Safe Preparation of Hazardous Drugs |

|

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: SPIROS ™

Application
The Spiros™ connector is a luer activated closed system, to be used in the preparation, transport and administration of hazardous drugs.

Operation
The female Luer connector on Spiros™ attaches to a syringe or IV line, becoming permanently fixed. When the male Luer connection on Spiros™ is connected to a needle-free system, the internal channel opens allowing fluid to flow freely through it. Upon disconnection, Spiros™ generates a negative internal pressure which absorbs the liquid remaining between the connectors, keeping it within the system. Spiros™prevents distal dripping and can only be activated by a needle-free system with a standard ISO female Luer.

Connector Compatibility
Compatible with standard Luer connectors in conformity with the ANSI (American National Standards Institute) for Luer connectors under ISO 594 and ANSI / HIMA MD 70.1-83 guidelines.
