What shoud I do to clean TEGO®?
TEGO® cleaning should be performed using disinfectants determined by the individual protocol of each hospital. We recommend the use of isopropyl alcohol, if a given disinfection protocol has not been determined. |

Do we need to flush the TEGO® after a hemodialysis procedure?
Always follow the hospital's protocol. It is recommended TEGO® be flushed with saline solution after each procedure.

Is TEGO® efficiently flushed after an infusion of blood?
Flushing with saline solution after the extraction or infusion of blood is highly effective in TEGO®.

Do I need to heparinize the lines after performing a hemodialysis through TEGO®?
If the hospital's protocol dictates it, the lines should be heparinized. However, there are reservations regarding the use of heparin and complications derived from this practice. TEGO® is a neutral displacement connector, which implies that there will be no entry of blood into the catheter once it is disconnected. According to its instructions for use, flushing with saline solution will be sufficient to keep the lines open and the catheter without occlusion.

Should I remove TEGO® after each procedure?
No, TEGO® can remain connected to the lines before, during and after hemodialysis. TEGO® should be changed every 7 days.

Does TEGO® allow enough flowrate?
Most hemodialysis machines operate with flowrates from 250 and 350 ml/min. TEGO® has been designed to maintain, without obstruction, a flowrate of 600 ml/min, and in laboratory tests, it has been proven to be capable of handling a flowrate of 650 ml/min.
